The 11-unit Tin Drum Asian Kitchen concept has named Altaf Popatiya, left, to the role of chief operating officer, the company said Friday.
In addition, the Atlanta-based chain Amisha Popatiya director of marketing. The Popatiyas, who are married, are also investors and co-owners of the brand, owning three units.
Altaf Popatiya will be responsible for leading overall operations, while Amisha Popatiya will lead the brand’s marketing strategy as the concept looks for growth outside the Atlanta area, the company said.
Further expanding the executive team, Matt Schinelli, below, was named director of business development. Schinelli was the concept’s first franchisee who opened the restaurant in Dunwoody, Ga. He now owns three units and became a shareholder in 2012.
“Tin Drum is expanding beyond Atlanta and we need the expertise and passion for the brand that Altaf, Amisha and Matt bring to the table,” said CEO Steven Chan. “We have an aggressive plan to grow Tin Drum and we are excited for the future.”
The fast-casual pan-Asian concept’s growth has been supported by a 2010 investment by private-equity firm BIP Capital, which also owns the Tropical Smoothie chain.
