New on the Menu: Fig-prosciutto salad and strawberry gazpacho

Plus Original Joe’s new cocktail menu, a sandwich named for José Andrés favorite soccer team, and a dessert that looks like a Zen garden.

One of the benefits of being a beloved philanthropist and restaurateur is that you can have a sandwich named for your favorite soccer team, and that’s what José Andrés has done at the Chicago location of his Jaléo restaurant, where sous-vide chicken and fried chicken are combined for a sandwich on Catalonian pan cristal.

In San Francisco, 85-year-old Italian-American restaurant Original Joe’s has revamped its cocktail list, which now includes a drink made with bourbon, mezcal and Chartreuse.

Although it’s now September, we still have another three weeks of summer, which chef and restaurateur Shawn McClain is celebrating at Highlands Detroit with strawberry gazpacho, and Oscar Amador of Anima in Las Vegas is observing with a salad of figs, peaches and prosciutto.

And in Atlanta, pastry chef Gus Castro of Rooftop L.O.A. is coating yuzu crémeux in stone-colored white chocolate and garnishing it with matcha chiffon cake to create a dessert that resembles a Zen garden.
