Best Sandwiches in America 2018: Lamb

This year's Best Sandwich winners reflect broader consumer trends as chefs find a new twist on traditional menu favorites. See all the winners >>

Winner: Rotisserie Lamb Club

Restaurant: Truxton’s American Bistro, Los Angeles

Units: 3

Price: $16.98

Food cost: $4.41

Ingredients: Shaved slow-roasted rotisserie lamb, roasted tomatoes, goat cheese, cilantro pesto, horseradish-Dijon mayonnaise, red onions and baby arugula on pumpernickel.

What makes it special: The traditional club sandwich has long relied on turkey or roast beef as the centerpiece. But this sandwich plays beautifully off tender, lean slices of lamb, a perfect foil for both the goat cheese and roasted-tomato jam. The menu at Truxton’s changes five times a year and the sandwich is rotated periodically. When it’s off the menu, however, customers say it’s missed.

What others are saying: “If you like lamb, this sandwich is really tasty! I will order it again!” one Yelp user wrote.
