More than a third of surveyed restaurant diners around the world say they plan to dine out more frequently than they did over the past year, according to Alix Partners. But less than a third plan to spend more than in the last 12 months.
Surveyed diners put spending on restaurant meals after other categories such as grocery, education and non-food retail purchases. Consumers are shifting spending to non-food retail purchases and travel.
Despite a weaker forecast for restaurant spending, delivery offers a bright spot: 75 percent of surveyed consumers said restaurant chains should offer even more delivery options.
