Texas and Florida just opened six of the South’s most exciting new restaurants

These concepts offer fresh seafood, sushi, and an abundance of raw bars

The new year brings a new opportunity to dig back into the restaurant scene, from revisiting old favorites to checking out all the shiny new operations that opened their doors during the holiday season.

Over the past month and a half, new restaurants have popped up across the South, covering a variety of concepts, designs, and menus.

Miami welcomed a handful of new restaurants, including Joliet, which is inspired by New Orleans; and Kaia, which is inspired by Mykonos. In Orlando, diners can score Cuban cocktails and Florida seafood at Otto’s High Dive.

Over in Dallas, the long-awaited STK outpost brought its “vibe dining” and dry-aged steaks to town, while the Finch is serving oysters and comfort food in a buzzy shopping center. And down in Houston, Money Cat is here with sushi and modern Japanese plates.

Put these six new restaurants on your to-do list.
