Each year, we ask restaurant operators around the country to share their best sandwiches with us, and each year, we’re impressed by the creative, innovative and downright delicious entries we receive.
This year’s Best Sandwiches in America touch on broader industry trends. The fruit of the sea is in the spotlight, and we fished to find the best representatives of seafood sandwiches in the States. Flavors from Korea and Vietnam are livening up menus, and two of our winners nod to these cuisines. And we would be remiss not to include a breakfast sandwich; our favorite was a maple-syrup-dunked variety. Ultimately, we selected 15 sandwiches across as many categories that represent the breadth of sandwich-making around the country.
On any given day, around half of all Americans eat a sandwich, according to research by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. These winning handheld meals are sure to provide operators with inspiration to satisfy the many consumers who are craving a standout sandwich.
