Host2015 turns spotlight on international hospitality industry

For five days in October, the technology, ingredients and human factors driving the future of foodservice and hospitality will dominate the agenda at Host2015, a massive trade show for the foodservice, retail, distribution and hotel industries.

The event will kick off on Oct. 23 at the Fieramilano fairground in Milan, Italy. It wraps up on Oct. 27.

Host is targeted at a variety of industries, including chefs and restaurants owners, retailers, architects, designers, design consultants and contractors; distributors and dealers; exporters and importers; manufacturers; hotels operators; bakeries; and more.

Some 1,700 exhibitors from 48 countries are expected at Host2015, with the 12-hall exhibit space area divided roughly into three areas: foodservice equipment, including a special focus on bread/pizza/pasta gear; a section devoted to coffee/tea, bar/coffee machines and vending and gelato/pastry supplies and equipment; furniture and tableware.

The Network del Gusto, promoted by the Professional Association of Italian Chefs with the cooperation of Italian Gourmet and apropositodime.com, will present lectures by top foodservice professionals. Among the offerings:

• APPAFRE (the association of fresh pasta makers) and the Primo Piatto pasta-making school will present short courses on pasta-based meals.

• The Federation of Italian Chefs will honor the Chef of the Year.

• The European Pizza Championship, organized by Pizza e Pasta Italiana magazine, is part of the event.

• Assofrigoristi and FCSI-Foodservice Consultants Society International will present workshops on a variety of topics.

This year, Host’s schedule also overlaps with the Universal Exposition, happening a short distance away. The expo is expected to attract more than 20 million visitors from every corner of the world to attend an event that will focus the attention of governments, institutions and consumers on Expo 2015’s theme: “Feeding the planet, energy for life”. People will be talking about food, health, wellbeing, innovation and technology with a view to securing a more sustainable future for our planet.
