Current political events have inspired the Indian-Latin restaurant Vermilion, with locations in Chicago and New York, to host an “Eat Your Heart Out” five-day celebration of “love in the time of hate,” which will give half off the five-course meal to all visitors and refugees from the seven travel ban countries.
Sex always sells. This year themes focus on the movie “Fifty Shades Darker,” which debuts in February.
Yamashiro Hollywood, for example, is teaming up with the TCL Chinese Theater to reward 200 diners with a complimentary screening of the movie. Diners choose from two four-course menus (one vegetarian), and finish with a fortune cookie that could contain a “Fifty Shades Darker” winning fortune.
On the other side of town in West Los Angeles, Tuck Room Tavern is teaming up with iPic Theaters in a similar promotion. Tuck Room will offer a six-course “aphrodisiac dining experience” with libido-enhancing foods Feb.10 through Feb. 14. During Valentine’s Day weekend, guests that purchase the limited-edition Sweet Heart Chocolate Cake Push-Up Pops, created by guest chef Ron Ben-Israel, or The Seductress cocktail, crafted by master mixologist Adam Seger, will receive a complimentary lace masquerade mask from iPic Theaters for the viewing of “Fifty Shades Darker.”
Chef Dale Talde at Massoni in New York City is throwing a singles pizza party on V-Day in partnership with the Instagram handle @H0tGirlsEatingPizza. Pizza and cocktail specials will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with two special pies — Meatlover’s Supreme and the Garden of Eden.
On February 13, Denver’s Beatrice & Woodsley is hosting a Galentine’s Day dinner party in its private wine cellar below the main dining room. The female-only, community-style dinner will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a three-course meal with wine and a cupid piñata filled with secret gifts and treats.
Partnering with its upstairs neighbor, Bedford & Co., located directly under the historic Renwick Hotel in New York City, has designed an aphrodisiac-induced prix fixe menu, which will culminate in a house-made truffle. One chocolate throughout the evening will hold a Golden Ticket prize, which includes a one-night stay in a Renwick Suite and complimentary brunch for two at Bedford & Co., a combined value of $550.
