Denver chefs will be cooking for charity in a contest hosted by Restaurant Hospitality and sponsored by Chairman’s Reserve® Meats.
The Chef’s Kiss Recipe Challenge will be broadcast live on March 28 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern Time, when chefs will be presented with market baskets to cook from, including top beef sirloin, beef short ribs, bone-in pork loin or pork tenderloin from Chairman’s Reserve® Meats, a brand of Tyson Fresh Meats. Each chef will also be given a specific spice and vegetable which they will be required to use.
The competing chefs are Greg Deflorio of Of a Kind at the Clayton Hotel, David Hadley of the virtual Samosa Shop brand, Alec Bruno of French 75 and John DePierro of the multiconcept Gastamo Group.
The contest will emceed by Restaurant Hospitality editor-in-chief Sam Oches, left. It will be judge Stacey Ballis, president of the Chicago chapter of Les Dames D’Escoffier, Guy Meikle, chef of Heritage Restaurant in Chicago, and Restaurant Hospitality senior food and beverage editor Bret Thorn.
People who attend the live broadcast here will also get to choose their favorite.
The winning chefs will give their prizes to Share Our Strength’s hunger relief program No Kid Hungry, CORE (Children of Restaurant Employees) which gives to hospitality workers in need, and José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen.
The champion, named by the judges, will donate $5,000 to their chosen charity. The audience favorite will get $2,500 to donate and the other competitors will get $500 for their charity.
