Peanut Butter Dream Waffle
As a special for National Peanut Butter Day on Jan. 24, Clinton Hall, with five locations in New York City, released the Peanut Butter Dream Waffle — three chocolate waffles stacked with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce and whipped cream. The dessert comes on a bed of crumbled Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and is topped with a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie and additional Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Garlic Herb Croissant
Sweet Pea Bake Shop
Ahead of National Croissant Day on Jan. 30, Sweet Pea Bake Shop, a bakery in Sonoma, Calif., introduced a new version of the pastry: A garlic herb croissant. It’s coated with butter seasoned with roasted garlic, parsley and rosemary, and then filled with a mixture of spinach, cream cheese, salt, pepper and garlic.
Fish and Chicks
At Violet, a Manhattan newcomer, grilled pizza is the main offering, but chef Matt Hyland also offers small plates with creative flavor combinations for diners to enjoy. One dish, the Fish and Chicks, is comprised of cod and kale pakoras, fried with a chickpea flour coating, and panelle chips. Panelle are Sicilian chickpea fritters. The menu item also comes with a side of garlic aïoli.

Cauldron Ice Cream, an Orange County, Calif., dessert shop launched the Fluffypuff in December. It combines ice cream with a fluffy Japanese-style pancake, making for a different kind of ice cream sandwich.

The Year of the Pig Sandwich
A new collaboration between 886, a modern Taiwanese restaurant in New York City, and local ice cream shop Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is a limited-edition treat inspired by Lunar New Year. The Year of the Pig Sandwich, named after the Chinese zodiac animal determined for 2019, is a fried bun with a pineapple cake-inspired ice cream from Van Leeuwen, along with spicy honey and candied bacon. The dessert will be served during weekend brunch service and as a secret off-the-menu item during dinner starting Jan. 19. At Van Leeuwen, the specialty ice cream flavor, made with caramelized pineapple jam, buttery miso shortbread, a sweet cream base and vanilla will be available at the East Village shop starting Jan. 16.

20 Pound Spiked Hot Cocoa
PHD Terrace at Dream Midtown
PHD Terrace at Dream Midtown has a humongous treat in store for National Hot Chocolate Day on Jan. 31. The New York City spot will serve a 20-lb. hot cocoa in a massive mug topped with charred giant marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, whipped cream and cocoa powder. The drink itself is crafted 61-percent bitter chocolate and milk chocolate — both from French chocolatier brand Valrhona — as well as cream and milk. As an added bonus, groups can spike the colossal beverage, meant to serve 22 people, with a choice of tequila, mezcal, Cognac or whiskey.
