Cortado originated in Iberia but its popularity has spread across Europe. It’s U.S. base is small but growing.
Cortado is are in the Inception stage. It’s an espresso-based drink made with steamed instead of micro-foamed milk, like the Australian flat white.

Cortado is also especially popular in Cuba. In the U.S., Fleet Coffee in Austin, Texas, serves lemon pound cake cortado with a lemon snap cookie as part of its morning Ritual lineup.
