Mixologists around the country have created some amazing champagne cocktails—ranging from seasonal specialties to celebration drinks. The following cocktails lend themselves to the romance of Valentine’s Day, and beyond.
Ashok Bajaj of Knightsbridge Restaurant Group is featuring eight romance novel-inspired cocktails ($12 each) at his Washington DC restaurants from February 8 through 14. The drinks are tributes to novels listed on NPR’s “Happy Ever After: 10 Swoon-Worthy Romances.” The Chocolate Kiss from The Oval Room is a combination of Crème de Cacao, truffle liqueur and cava, garnished with an orange twist. It’s inspired by Laura Florand’s novel, Chocolate Kiss.
From Vin de Syrah in San Diego comes the champagne-topped Last Word, made with muddled basil leaves, gin, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur and Green Chartreuse.
The classic mojito takes on a new dimension in the Pink Champagne Mojito served at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, FL. Champagne replaces soda water; raspberries, lime and mint are gently muddled in a tall cocktail glass. The cocktail also features rum and agave nectar. It’s garnished with a sprig of fresh rosemary.
The Captain’s List French 75 is a splurge-worthy signature cocktail at Bistro Bal Harbour at the Ritz-Carlton, Bal Harbour in Miami. Priced at $95, the bubbly drink features Tanqueray No. 10, housemade vanilla-infused simple syrup and lemon juice. It’s shaken, and served straight up with Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque.
At South Water Kitchen in Chicago, the Fall 75 is head bartender Dan Rook’s seasonal riff on the French 75. The drink is made with Remy Martin VSOP Cognac, Journeyman Old Country Goodness Apple Cider Liqueur, Curacao and Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs Sparkling Wine. It’s served in a flute and garnished with a lemon twist.
A splash of cranberry juice complements the classic champagne cocktail in The Nantucket Breeze served at The Nantucket Hotel + Resort’s restaurant, The Breeze.
