With the generosity that typifies the American hospitality industry, restaurants around the country are hosting fundraisers and donating proceeds to organizations that will provide help to flood-ravaged victims in Houston.
Such efforts not only raise money for those in need, they provide an outlet for consumers outside of Texas who just want to help in some way.
The Texas Restaurant Association has also set up a web page with information about how to donate. Included there are resources for restaurant employees specifically who may be out of work for some time or losing wages due to closures from storm damage. The Texas Workforce Commission is accepting applications for disaster relief assistance through Sept. 27 in 18 Texas counties. https://www.txrestaurant.org/news/hurricane-harvey-recovery-resources-restaurants
