Category: Shrub
Restaurant: Azure by Allegretti, Atlantic City, NJ
Creator: Blaise Spinelli, bartender
Inspiration: A cocktail that salutes my Italian-American heritage
Key Ingredients: Belvedere Vodka, lemon-basil syrup, St. Germain, fresh squeezed lemon juice and white balsamic vinegar
Price: $17
What Others Said: It was the only cocktail to get a perfect score at UV Vodka’s 2013 Shakeup Showdown competition.
What the Judges Said: “Unfortunately, the Azure at the Revel Resort closed. That’s too bad because Spinelli is a talented barkeep. His use of the white balsamic vinegar is a nice touch that provides balance to the elderflower liqueur and lemon-basil syrup. Another nice touch is the inclusion of a two-inch ice cube with a basil leaf frozen inside. It’s a delightfully refreshing drink that, according to Spinelli, sells an average of 60 times a night. At $17 a pop, it’s a rock star.”
