Being so entrenched in the community has allowed the group to move into underserved markets with potential, as well as high-profile “trophy” locations, like the bay-front Coasterra, with stunning views of the city across the water, and the oceanfront Sea180 Coastal Tavern next to the pier on Imperial Beach.

“We don’t really do delivery,” he said. “I’m concerned about what it does to your brand and how well it travels. And giving away 20% to 30% — to me it’s about the four-wall experience, experimenting with that and trying to figure out how to make it work.”
