Lake Street Café has two interior dining rooms, one casual and one more upscale, but owner Lynn Shovan says most guests this past summer opted for seating on the outdoor lawn.
Outdoor tables, umbrellas and patio heaters turned Lake Street Café’s former beer garden, which had a bar, into an open-air dining space.
The entrance to the more casual side of Lake Street Café occupies an historic Elkhart Lake village storefront.
Lake Street Café opened in 1999 at a prominent street corner in the popular Elkhart Lake, Wis., resort town.
Owners Lynn and John Shovan opened the restaurant in 1999 and have found the lawn next door to the resort eatery becoming a popular option during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lake Street Café’s menu ranges from burgers and fries to more sophisticated fare, such as this beef carpaccio with capers, arugula and balsamic with zucchini carpaccio with caramelized pine nuts, lemon-shallot drizzle and goat cheese.
