Easy Tiger names a Mike Stitt CEO and announces plans to open large-scale venue in South Lamar, Austin in winter 2020

Naming of the former Travelzoo executive comes amid bakery and beer garden’s expansion

Austin, Texas-based bake shop and beer garden Easy Tiger has announced Mike Stitt its new CEO, effective immediately, the company said Tuesday. In addition, the company plans to open a large-scale third unit in Austin’s South Lamar neighborhood, which will include a wholesale bakery.

Stitt most recently was CEO of Invisible Ink Tattoo Removers. Prior to that, he was president, North America, of Travelzoo Inc., where he launched and scaled the company’s restaurant, spa and activity business.

“I am humbled to partner with such an outstanding team, especially our founder and Head Doughpuncher David Norman, to lead one of Austin’s most-loved brands,” said Stitt in a statement. “I am already rolling up my sleeves and getting to work with our 180 passionate teammates.”

Founded in 2012, Easy Tiger is known for its beer garden and bake shop combination concepts, with two Austin locations. Its wholesale bakery provides bread to more than 100 accounts including the Whole Foods flagship store and local hotels and restaurants.

The bakery and beer restaurant is backed by Austin investment firms, Pixiu Investments, the investment firm of Eddie Margain and Chris Loughlin, and Prophet Capital Asset Management, the investment firm of Bobby Epstein.

All locations currently open (including a small store inside Whole Foods Austin) have in-house bakeries, as well as more than 30 local beers on tap and a menu of sausages and smoked meats.

"Easy Tiger already serves more than 500,000 guests every year, and 50,000 Austinites eat our high-quality bread every day at our restaurants, the airport, the convention center, Whole Foods Market and more than 100 Austin-area restaurants and hotels,” said Stitt in a statement. “My focus is to ensure we maintain our high-quality standards and down-to-earth culture, as we scale."

The new location will have:

  • A bakery classroom for workshops, classes and guest instructors that will be available for private rental;
  • Live Oak Grove where guests can relax in the park with take-out food and host events;
  • Beer Garden with live music, live TV events and kid- and dog-friendly areas;
  • A market featuring a selection of local goods available for curbside pickup;
  • And a working bakery and bake shop.
