Chef Dana Rodriguez also opened her newest restaurant on Jan. 12 in the LoHi neighborhood. Unlike her other two spots, Work & Class and Super Mega Bien, both in RiNo, Cantina Loca is all about serving up Mexican street food.
The menu consists of fritangas — or snacks — tacos, shared plates and desserts. The space too offers more of an outdoor feeling, with a large tree "growing" near the bar and a patio-like aspect to the high-top seating.
Rodriguez comes from Chihuahua, Mexico, and bits of her upbringing can be found in all the food she makes. Items coming out of the kitchen include charcoal tempura cactus, five types of tacos, Colorado lamb mixiote with avocado sauce, pollo adobado and more, plus daily specials.
