Areppas in New York City is making a name for itself as a Venezuelan fast-casual concept, within a segment that is quickly evolving and becoming more ethnic. The heart of its menu is arepas, but the restaurant recently introduced create-your-own bowl and salad options, making Latin-American flavors shine in a limited-service format. A bowl comes with rice, beans, a choice of protein, unlimited toppings including avocado, ham, onions and others, a choice of cheese and a choice of Verde, Rosado or Amarillo sauce. The salad option is similar to the bowl, except with baby spinach or romaine lettuce instead of rice and beans. Areppas operates one brick-and-mortar location and three food carts.
