In celebration of the Cincinnati Reds’ 150th season, Taste of Belgium, a local full-service restaurant with four units, collaborated with Yasiel Puig, the professional baseball team’s new right fielder, to create a new menu item. As a shout-out to Puig’s Cuban heritage, the Belgian-inspired restaurant is now offering its own take on the classic Cuban sandwich with its signature waffle, pork belly, havarti cheese, mustard, ham and housemade pickles. The waffle sandwich is broiled in the oven and served with housemade frites.
$1 from each Puig Waffle sold will be donated to Puig’s charity Wild Horse Children’s Foundation. For now, the sandwich is only available during the Cincinnati Reds season, but it might become a permanent menu item depending on how it sells.
