Winner: Chicken & Cauliflower
Restaurant: ’Wichcraft, New York, N.Y.
Units: 10
Creator: Sisha Ortuzar, co-founder, and David Mondore, R&D chef
Price: $11
Ingredients: Lemon herb grilled chicken, marinated cauliflower, roasted tomato jam, pickled hot peppers, arugula, aioli and toasted ciabatta.
What makes it special: The marinated cauliflower, which is lightly pickled and tossed with savory capers and sweet, golden raisins. In addition to a briny kick, the cauliflower gives the sandwich a satisfying crunch.
What others are saying: In an earlier review, New York magazine wrote: “From Craft to Craftbar to ‘Wichcraft: If Tom Colicchio continues his downward price spiral, he’ll soon be operating a souvlaki cart. We won’t complain if it’s anywhere near as enticing as this stylishly minimalist sandwich shop.”
