The new Tratto in San Francisco brings the streetscape inside with a resident artist who was given free reign to draw on the walls, the dishes, the menu and even the restaurant staff.
Local artist-in-residence Amos Goldbaum has created a theme for the restaurant’s design that runs through all aspects and sets the stage for chef David Feldman’s rustic Italian menu.
Located adjacent to The Marker Hotel in the city’s theater district, Tratto is the latest by restaurant developer and operator Puccini Group, based in San Francisco.
“Tratto” means the stroke of a pen in Italian, a pun/nod to its location next to The Marker, but also a reference to Goldbaum’s line drawings of the San Francisco skyline and Italian street scenes that are literally everywhere you look.
Here’s a look at Tratto.
